Year Group Curriculum Overviews
Layton Primary School is made up of Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two.
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is made up of Nursery and Reception (ages 3 to 4 and 4 to 5). At our school we don’t have a Nursery and therefore the only year group in EYFS is Reception.
Key Stage 1 covers Years 1 and 2 after Foundation Stage. The children in these two classes will be 5 to 6 and 6 to 7 years of age respectively and it is at the beginning of Year 1 that children begin work on the National Curriculum. A new National Curriculum came into force in September 2014.
Key Stage 2 covers Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 and the children in these classes continue to study the National Curriculum.

PSHE Curriculum
In December 2020 we shared with Parents our PSHE (Physical Social and Health Education) curriculum and our PSHE policy. Included in this is also RSE (Relationships and Sex Education), which became statutory in March 2021. You can find the whole school overview here.
