At Layton Primary School we recognise that every family is different and we want to celebrate this with you and your children. However, we also appreciate that family life can be challenging with pressures on parents/carers continually increasing.
Our support for families includes:
Advice and support in promoting positive behaviour at home:
Getting this right for your children can be a real challenge, and there isn’t just one way of doing this, different families approach parenting in different ways and we can all learn from each other. Please come and chat to us about any difficulties you may be facing and we can advise, signpost, help with behaviour charts and chatting with your children etc.
Liaising with a range of external services such as housing and Social Care:
We understand that securing housing can be challenging. Talk to us and we may be able to help with liaising with housing enforcement or writing a support letter for a planned house move. Should social care be supporting your family, please come and talk to us. Social Care involvement can be overwhelming, but we want to help you make the most of the support they offer whilst working together as a team to support you and your children. We work with lots of other organisations too, so please contact us if you need any support or signposting.
Assistance in completing paperwork and forms e.g. housing, special educational needs, school places and benefits:
No-one enjoys completing paperwork and it’s never straightforward, so book an appointment with us, bring the paperwork and we’ll see what we can to do help.
Attendance and support at school and other agency meetings:
Sometimes it can be hard to get your point across at meetings, we want to get to know you and your family, so we can help with this. Working together with classroom staff and other agencies will result in the best possible outcomes for your children. We are always around at parents’ evening and would be happy to support at any other meetings you may have arranged.
Guidance with career and personal development and access to training and workshops in school:
We love having parents in school working with their children. Look out for information on our regular events including workshops for parents and children as well as opportunities for you as parents to learn and grow.
Providing information and signposting to other services in the local area:
There are so many amazing organisations out there to help you and your family – see our community page for more details.
