Introduction to Teddy

My name is Teddy and I would like to introduce myself and inform you of my role at school.

Layton Primary School have asked me to be their school therapy dog and I will be supporting students in a variety of ways.  I will be supporting the children with interventions, pupil’s social and emotional well-being, working with the Family Engagement Team, joining in with extra-curricular activities and most importantly being part of the school family.

To fulfil my role I will be working closely under the standards of “The School Therapy Dog Association.” You can look at their web site www.schooltherapydog.com and see for yourself the high standards that myself, the children and the staff will have to meet.  I will be attending training classes and my trainer will be visiting me at school to make sure that I am happy and doing a good job.

The teachers at Layton Primary School will be spending lots of time working with me, training me to be a school dog and updating their polices and risk assessments to include me.

There are lots of benefits of having a school dog, which I’m happy you will get to witness during your child’s time at Layton Primary School.

I am really looking forward to meeting all the children and hopefully you as well on your next visit to school.  If you have any concerns or would not like your child to participate in any interventions with myself please contact the school reception on 01253 392179.

I have included my photo of me which will help you recognise me when you next visit.  Feel free to pop over and say hello.
