Curriculum Impact

Curriculum Impact

The impact of each curriculum subject is assessed according to the school’s Monitoring and Evaluation Policy. The policy is based on the collection of summative data at two separate points of the year. This information is recorded on Arbor such that the progress of children can be tracked through school and subject leaders can set targets for improvement.

In addition to this, children’s progress throughout school is measured according to the statutory requirements of the Department for Education. This includes:

  • Reception Baseline Assessment which is undertaken within the first few weeks of children starting in Foundation Stage. School and parents are not informed of the outcome of this.
  • At the end of Foundation Stage, teacher’s on-going assessment, and knowledge, of each child informs the outcome of the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP) assessment which gives parents information on how children have developed against the Early Learning Goals. This information is shared with parents and carers in their child’s end of year report.
  • Year 1 Phonics Screening Check undertaken in the Summer term. Children resit this in Year 2 if they do not pass. Parents and carers will be informed of the result of this at the end of the Summer term.
  • KS1 Standardised Assessment Tests, taken in May of Year 2, to inform teacher assessment in Reading, Writing and Mathematics. Parents and carers will be informed of the result within their child’s end of year report.
  • Year 4 Multiplications Check undertaken in the Summer term. Parents and carers will be informed of the result within their child’s end of year report.
  • KS2 Standardised Assessment Tests, taken in May of Year 6, in Reading, Mathematics and Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar.  Teacher assessments are undertaken in Writing and Science. Parents and carers are informed of their child’s results with their end of year report.
