Children’s Mental Health Week

Here at Layton, we will be taking part in Children’s Mental Health Week, which takes place next week, from 1st-7th February. We are aware of how difficult the ongoing lockdown situation is for children and adults alike so feel this focus on mental health will benefit us all.

The theme for this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is Express Yourself and we’ll be using the book ‘The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse’ by Charles Mackesey to support us with this.  Throughout the week, there will be lots of activities both in school and online for those of you at home that will help our children and yourselves to explore different ways of sharing your thoughts and feelings as well as maintaining positive emotional wellbeing.

In addition to these activities, on Friday 5th February, whether your child(ren) is at home or in school we are inviting them to wear clothes that make them feel happy and we can’t wait to see your amazing outfits!  Remember, maintaining positive emotional wellbeing is not just about the children either, so watch this space for more information on our daily family wellbeing challenge for next week.

If you or your child(ren) are struggling  with your mental health, please do not hesitate to contact the Family Engagement Team in school who can signpost you to relevant support.  You may also be interested in having a look at the websites below.  You can also click to hear the ‘The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse’ being read:

Although this is Children’s Mental Health Week, it is so important for all of us to take care of our mental health.  Why not try some of our family wellbeing challenges this week and let us know how you get on…
